Dehradun jail

Jail At Doon

Dehradun Jail

As we know about the Kala Pani jail i.e. Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Doon is also infamous for its imprisonment.

Dehradun Central Internment Camp became a major prison camp for keeping Germans, Austrian and Italians, during the Second World War, who were living or maybe getting visits to British Colonies in Asia, during the start of the war.

Even during the freedom movement in India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was sent to dehradun jail thrice. He wrote all the main writings, during his reign in jail, these were " Discovery of India" and many more. He wrote letters to his daughter from a jail cell, from where even the huge Shivalik range of dehradun wouldn't be seen.
